🎉 Monaco Editor Integration - Ready for Review!

What's Been Done

I've completed the planning and initial implementation for integrating Monaco Editor into Goose's rich text input. Here's what's ready:

What's Left (60% - About 2-3 Hours)

Step 1: Install Dependencies (2 minutes)

cd ui/desktop
npm install

This will install @monaco-editor/react which wraps Monaco Editor.

Step 2: Integrate into RichChatInput (30 minutes)

File: ui/desktop/src/components/RichChatInput.tsx

Changes needed:

  1. Add imports (lazy loading for performance)
  2. Replace SyntaxHighlighter with MonacoCodeInput in code mode
  3. Wire up onChange, onSend, onExit handlers

Step 3: Add CSS Styling (10 minutes)

File: ui/desktop/src/styles/main.css

Add Monaco-specific styles for smooth transitions and proper appearance.

Step 4: Testing (1 hour)

  • Manual testing with all languages
  • Verify keyboard shortcuts
